A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to Aldo Intermediate School!

I hope you all are staying cool and enjoying the summer! Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our Grayhound community.

As we will soon be embarking on another exciting year, I wanted to take a moment to extend my heartfelt welcome to each of you and introduce myself. My name is Sara Watkins and I am honored to be leading Aldo Leopold Intermediate School in the fall.

I am passionate about students and learning and I understand the importance of dedication, perseverance, and building a community. These values shape the foundation of our educational environment and we as a team, at Aldo, are committed to ensuring that every student and parent feel supported, valued, and empowered to achieve at their best.

We have wonderful programs and curriculum designed to enrich our students’ learning experiences and foster a sense of belonging. From engaging academic programs to clubs and various musical opportunities, we are dedicated to providing a holistic and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Last year, we saw gains in our academic scores as well as had more than 250 students participate in music ensembles.  Our Girl’s Group participated in a community outreach project and Man Club hosted their first Aldo boy’s basketball tournament. Aldo Intermediate School is also home to the Black History Museum, this is an event put on by 5th and 6th grade teachers and students, where we collaborate with the community and open our doors to the public. Last year, our students developed and researched numerous exhibits and we had more than 500 visitors at the museum.

Aldo is a unique place and I can’t wait to welcome more Grayhounds in the fall! I am super excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to working together to create a positive year for all. See you soon!

Mission

Inspiring and challenging students through diverse opportunities.

Vision

The Burlington Community School District strives to have a profoundly positive impact on each student’s adult quality of life brought about by the students’ individual and collective educational experience.

Exit Outcomes

The Burlington Community School District supports all students achieving skills and abilities to become productive citizens in the community in which they live. This includes academic goals, social competencies, employability skills, and technology skills. These skills are a guide for teachers and students in determining projects and areas of focus at various grade levels.
